Clean Sky 2 Call for Proposals 08

Specific Challenge : The aim of the project is to develop a universal head for butt and lap joining of 0.4 – 3.0 mm thicknesses sheet metal plate using linear friction stir welding (FSW) for aluminum alloys 2xxx and 7xxx series. Developed head shall allow welding of flat and concave-convex geometries (R > 200 mm) and shall provide integration with most commercially available CNC machines (independently from machine control system).
